Contrary to most modern albums, this piece is intended to be listened to in the entirety as a sound painting. Ric's wish is for the listener - you - to envision the journey Fillmore takes in your mind’s eye.
Inspired by Nature
Ric took inspiration from many sources; most notably his own life and experiences as a young man in his college days. Fillmore can be read as a younger Ric, growing in his own knowledge of the world. Travelling over the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, USA, hitchhiking with his guitar and a dream.
Every sound; a character
The narrative tone was inspired by former Soviet Union composer Sergei Prokofiev, who is particularly well known for his work ‘Peter and the Wolf’ featuring the episodic movements and instruments which play the role of characters in the length of the music.
